What to do?

Partial ACL Tear

Successful repair of damaged ACL ligament has yet to show good results, although there are some new, experimental procedures, that are focused on the healing of ACL injuries. Trying to determine how many of the ACL fibers are intact is impossible. Individuals with significant instability are unlikely to be able to return to sports activities and hence may require surgery.

If a partial ACL tear is suspected, consult an orthopedic surgeon who will help assess the degree of instability and whether or not ACL reconstruction might be required for better long-term outcome.
